Directions: Take I-84E to Cascade Locks. Take a right on Wasco St. and then another right onto Moody St., park along the road.
The trailhead doesn’t actually have a sign that says Dry Creek Falls. So look for the sign that has Pacific Crest Trail S, Gorge Trail 400, Pacific Crest Trail N, and City Of Cascade Locks. This is the starting point for this hike.
The trail heads steadily uphill for about a mile. The first thing of note is that there are four good sized trees that have fallen in this section since our last visit. You’ll have to climb over them to make it through. There were three of us hiking and we all made it over without much of a struggle.
After the first mile you’ll come to a split in the trail, go right and come to a power line clearing. Pass under the lines and pick up the trail again. From here the trail heads uphill briefly and then you’ll gradually start to descend down to Dry Creek. Once you reach the creek there is another split in the trail. Go right and uphill for about a quarter mile, where you’ll run into Dry Creek Falls.
The last time we visited Dry Creek Falls was in early September so the water level was pretty low. Visiting in early January the waterfall was a lot fuller and much more impressive. We definitely recommend visiting in late fall or winter!
