This weekend after our hike out to Drift Creek Falls we decided to check out the Tundra Bean Goose that has been spotted in Nestucca Bay. It’s a great place for any birders that are interested.
Directions: From Lincoln City take Highway 101N to Oretown. Take a left on Christiansen Rd (there is a sign for the refuge) and follow the road up a short distance to the parking area.
There are a few viewing areas and different trails to check out. Make sure to pack your binoculars or spotting scopes so you don’t miss out on any birds.
For anyone interested, we spotted the Tundra Bean Goose on a turnout on Christiansen Rd just before the parking lot. It was out in the grass mixed in with a group of Canada Geese. We didn’t get any good pictures as there was a lot of tree coverage along the road.
Dogs are not allowed in the wildlife refuge.
