White River Falls (Summer)

This is a very short hike and in fact it doesn’t have to be a hike at all if you choose to stop at the viewpoint. White River Falls Park is located in Tygh Valley, just outside of Maupin.

The park is very well maintained, has a few picnic tables and a paved parking area. Right from the parking area you can follow a very short paved pathway that leads to a fenced viewpoint of White River Falls. This is great for kids or folks that don’t feel up to going farther.

We recommend going all the way down to the river though. The view is even better and you can check out the old Hydroelectric Power Plant from 1910!  The trail goes steeply downhill and in late August is very dusty. About half way down the trail turns into wooden steps that aren’t in the best shape but take you right down to the river. Along the way you’ll see many lizards sunning themselves along with many different viewpoints of the falls.
