Beacon Rock (Summer)

Directions: Take I-84 to Cascade Locks and take the Bridge Of The Gods ($2 toll) . Take a left on to Highway 14 and drive about 5 miles to the trailhead on the left side of the road.

From the trailhead walk through the woods for a short distance until you reach the gate to Beacon Rock. The trail is a mix of gravel, pavement and wood but well maintained.

The entire trail is switchbacks (we counted 51) and there are many viewpoints. At the very end there are a few stairs leading to the summit. The top is small and doesn’t have room for many people but has a great view and a few big rocks for a place to sit before heading back down.
