Directions: From Tillamook get onto Bayocean Road, and follow it for 5 miles until you reach a two level, unmarked gravel road. Make sure you take the LOWER gravel road (they are one-way roads) and follow it for about a mile until you reach the parking area.
This is one of those hikes that you can do as much or little as you want and it will still be packed full of stuff to see. You can make this an out-and-back beach walk or a loop that takes you to Kincheloe Point. It’s great!
From the parking area take the marked trail (it’s a sand trail) through the dunes that are lined with beach grass and scots broom. You’ll soon come to an opening where you can see a complete view of the dunes. Head uphill through a tall wall of grass where you will finally reach the beach. There is a trail marker here covered in beach junk. If you just want to walk the beach and come back, this marker is very helpful in finding the trail from the beach.
If you are doing the loop head north on the beach and follow it to the end of the spit at Kincheloe Point. Only climb the jetty if you are sure footed. Follow the jetty east to an old access road which takes you back to the parking area.
